Two Standard of quick charge technology

High voltage quick charge:

By increasing the output voltage of power adapter to improve the terminal charging power and speed

Low voltage quick charge:

Increase the power and speed of the terminal by increasing the output current of the power adapter.

Quick charge standard has the following:

1,Qualcomm: Quick Charge(high voltage Quick charge: such as QC2.0 and QC3.0)

 Introduction: Qualcumm Quick Charge use high voltage Quick charge standard. Thanks to the dominant position in the end of mobile processor, so far there are more than 100 kinds of smart phones using Qualcomm Charge Quick program. Xiaomi 4C, Xiaomi note, Samsung and other mainstream brands are using this charging technology. Qualcomm QC charging technology has two versions, QC2.0 and QC3.0 is a kind of standard, worked out by Qualcomm Corp in 2014, has two types, including class A (5V,9V,12V) and class B (5V,9V,12V,20V). Both are using the D+D-voltage change to control the output voltage of the charger. Now most of which are class A.QC3.0 adopts high voltage quick charging technology, through the 3.6~20V dynamic adjustable voltage and maximum 3A current to achieve the maximum 36W charging power. At the same time, QC 3 uses the best voltage intelligent negotiation (INOV) technology, allowing the powered device to determine the most appropriate power levels to charge and the maximum energy conversion efficiency.

2,MTK Pump Experss Plus (Pump Express 1.0 and 2.0 version are the high voltage quick charge, while Pump Express 3.0 is low voltage quick charge.

Introduction: Although the implementation between Media Tek Pump Express quick charging technology and Qualcomm QC2.0 is different, but the result is the same. Qualcomm QC2.0 adjusts the voltage though the signal sent from D+ and D- of USB ports. While MTK Pump Express quick charge technology communicates with the chargers and applies the corresponding output voltage through the VBUS of the USB port.QC2.0 communicates though the configuration of D+ and D- voltage. Pump Express communicates through the current pulse on the VBUUS. Both ultimate goal is enhance the voltage of the charge to 7V,5V,9V,12V.

3,OPPO: VOOC program (which belongs to low voltage quick charge)

Introduction: the biggest difference between OPPO’s COOC flash charging technology and the traditional charging is to innovatively remove the charging control circuit to the adapter terminal, which means the largest heat source transfers to the adapter. So the control circuit is in the adapter, and charged battery is at the mobile phone terminal, which greatly solves the phone fever when being charged. In order to better control the charging process (such as the control circuit requires real-time monitoring of battery voltage, temperature etc.), OPPO especially adds an intelligent control chip MCU into the adapter. So the adapter realizes the charging control circuit and the whole process of intelligent charging control,

4,HUAWEI: compatible with QC2.0 protocol and the protocol of Haisi quicK charge HUAWEI quick charge technology.

5,VIVO: double engine flash charge.

6,Lenovo/Motorola: Turbo Charger

7,Samsung: its own quick charging program.

8,USB developers Alliance: Power Delivery released quick charging specifications, through the VBUS DC level on the coupling FSK signal to let charger adjust the output voltage and current process.

Power supply configuration VBUS has two modes, USB Type –C AND USB Power Delivery.

USB PD’S (Power Delivery Specification) communication is to make the message on modulation protocol into 24MHZ’s FSK signal and then coupled to the VBUS or achieve FSK signal from the VBUS in order to realize the communication process of using equipment and charger. Voltage can be from 5V~20V, maximum power can be up to 100W.Currently apple, Xiaomi notebook has been using USB PD 20V(Type C interface) quick charge technology.
